America, ses pochettes représentant des Amérindiens, son titre « A Horse With No Name », est un groupe curieusement formé à Londres en 1969. Avec l'album America en 1971, et le fameux « A Horse With No Name », ils sont no 1 aux Etats-Unis et deviennent des symboles du country rock. Leur carrière est parsemée de succès jusqu'en 1977, avec en point d'orgue « Sister Golden Hair » autre no 1 américain, date à laquelle Dan Peek un des membres fondateurs quitte le groupe.
