Beenie Man commence sa carrière dès 1980 en remportant le populaire Tastee Contest, il est alors âgé de huit ans. Son premier album jamaïcain est réalisé en 1983. Son premier album international Cool Cool Rider sort en 1992. En 1995 sort Blessed, avec le simple « Slam » qui permet à Beenie Man de percer aux Etats-Unis. Devenu une référence incontournable du dancehall, il connait son premier grand succès international avec « Who Am I » en 1998. Back to Basics en 2004 est No 26 aux Etats-Unis ...
