Shaggy a durablement secoué le cocotier du ragga, à travers ses influences hip-hop, il a largement contribué à façonner le son dancehall actuel. «Boombastic » en 1995 révèle le doberman chantant, Hot Shot en 2000 en fait une superstar avec l'hilarant « It Wasn't Me », Lucky Day perpétue la tradition en 2002 grâce à « Hey Sexy Lady ».
