The Red Hot Valentines were a power pop band from Champaign, Illinois. Formed in 1999, the group consisted of Jeff Johnson (lead vocals, guitar), Tobin Kirk (backing vocals, guitar), David Gerkin (backing vocals, bass), Eric Humbert (drums), and Jason Searby (keyboards). Their early releases included the self-released EP There Is No Plan B in 2000. The band's debut album, The Red Hot Valentines, was originally self-released in early 2002 before being picked up by Double Zero Records. Notable songs include "I'm Sorry" and "Everything's Fine". In 2003, they released the EP Calling Off Today via Polyvinyl Record Co., followed by their second full-length album, Summer Fling, in May of the same year. The band disbanded after their final show on November 20, 2004.
