Singer-songwriter and pianist Fabe Gryphin joins forces with multi-instrumentalist and producer Saint Estrela to present Kill The King, a project blending folk, rock and indie with a touch of country influence, to be released Sept 25th 2026.
While the name of the album may sound like a violent act, it’s really a metaphor for things to change, and change is never totally peaceful. It takes time and courage to evolve, to say goodbye to what is familiar and start something new, from scratch. But the instability of the unknown is what makes it exciting, frightening yet hopeful. It is a way of letting go, starting a revolution of self, reinventing things while going back to what matters most.
Written around 2020, the album’s 9 songs reflect on existence, love, hope and the search of one’s self-identity in the midst of uncertainty and fear for things to come. The project marks a turning point for Fabe Gryphin, placing greater emphasis on his identity as a songwriter. While his earlier work blended rap, jazz, and electro-pop, this project takes a more organic and intimate direction, centered on songwriting, vocals, and emotion.
Recording began in Fabe’s home studio in 2023 using his late father’s old slightly out of tune piano, an instrument at the heart of the creative process. With Saint Estrela on drums and later adding bass, guitars, and layered instrumentation, the duo shaped a full-band sound while maintaining the recordings’ organic, homemade essence.
Inspired by the musical legacy of the 1970s — an era when songwriting held a central place — the project draws from the worlds of Bob Dylan and The Beatles, while also resonating with contemporary artists such as Kevin Morby, The War on Drugs, Bon Iver, Sam Fender, Zach Bryan, and Noah Kahan.
The first single Zephyr is out now everywhere.
