Leonídas Kanáris, born on October 31, 1963 in Kardítsa, Greece, is a composer and musician. He began his musical studies in 1976, focusing initially on classical guitar and later expanding to piano. In 1983, he moved to Athens to study under Kostas Kotsiólis at the Conservatoire d'Athènes while also pursuing political science at the University of Panteion. Kanáris released his first album, Το ταξίδι: Έλληνες συνθέτες γράφουν για δύο κιθάρες, in 1993 with Giorgos Foundoulis. In 2008, he released One Night When under Subways Music. His work also includes the score for Oscar et la dame en rose (2015) and he has authored several publications on guitar music. He has also served as the president of the Hellenic Music Society and the International Guitar and Composition Festival.
