Ivan Repušić is a Croatian conductor born in 1978 in Imotski, Yugoslavia. He studied conducting at the Music Academy in Zagreb with Igor Gjadrov and Vjekoslav Šutej, and continued his studies with Jorma Panula and Gianluigi Gelmetti. He began his professional career in 2002 at the Croatian National Theatre in Split, where he served as chief conductor and opera director from 2006 to 2008. His career in Germany includes work as First Kapellmeister at the Staatsoper Hannover from 2010 to 2013 and Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin starting in 2012. He was General Music Director of the Staatsoper Hannover from 2016 to 2019, and became chief conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra in 2017 with a tenure extending to 2026. He accepted chief conductor duties with the Staatskapelle Weimar in 2024, and was appointed General Music Director of the Leipzig Opera starting with the 2025/2026 season. His discography includes recordings of Maurice Duruflé's Requiem, Giuseppe Verdi's Luisa Miller, and Igor Kuljeric's Croatian Glagolitic Requiem, with the Kuljeric recording earning the Diapason d'or and the International Classical Music Award in 2021.
