Snatches of Pink, an American rock band, was formed in 1985 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, by bassist Andy McMillan and guitarist Michael Rank, who were soon joined by drummer Sara Romweber. After selling a demo cassette that received airplay on student radio station WXYC, the group signed with Dog Gone Records and released their debut studio album, Send in the Clowns, in 1987. They followed with Dead Men in 1989, which was produced by Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins, reached the top 40 of the college radio charts, and was reviewed in Billboard and Spin. In 1990, the band released a limited-edition live EP, Deader Than You'll Ever Be, recorded at CBGB. Snatches of Pink issued Bent with Pray on Caroline Records in 1992, before rebranding as Clarissa in 1993. Under this moniker, they released the albums Silver in 1996 and Blood & Commons in 1997 on Mammoth Records. The group resumed their original name in 1998, subsequently releasing the albums Hyena in 2003, Stag in 2005, and Love Is Dead in 2007 before disbanding. Romweber died of a brain tumor in March 2019, and her legacy was honored by the declaration of Sara Romweber Day in Carrboro, North Carolina.
