Robert Kretzschmar, Berlin's favourite drummer for Kat Frankie, Masha Qrella, Das Paradies and Albertine Sarges, among others, dares the long-awaited step into the world of solo musicians and delivers his solo debut this year. Robert's songs fascinate with an unmistakable beauty and take us directly out of our daily routine into an acoustic embrace. His music is characterised by an apparent minimalism, as the sound is big. Raised in the Thuringian Holzland (east of Thuringia, Germany) and rooted in Berlin for the past 20 years, he writes, plays, and produces all the songs himself. Mixed by renowned producer Olaf Opal (The Notwist, International Music), mastered by Norman Nitzsche (The Whitest Boy Alive, Beirut) and finished with string arrangements by Michael Mühlhaus (Blumfeld, Die Türen), his debut tells pin-sharp stories – with a clear sound that would even make Robert Wyatt dream.
Robert Kretzschmar made a name for himself as a live and studio musician in the German pop and indie scene. As part of the duo IT'S A MUSICAL, he released several albums and EPs with numerous tours in Europe and Asia.
Since 2012, he is also involved as a composer and musical director in theatre productions, such as Schauspiel Frankfurt, Theater Bonn and Schauspiel Hannover.
