Chisel, an American punk rock band, was formed in 1990 at the University of Notre Dame by Ted Leo (guitar/vocals), Chris Infante (bass), and John Dugan (drums). They began playing covers before transitioning to original songs. The band's early years included performances at college venues and contributions to compilations with radio stations WVFI and WPRB. In 1992, Infante was replaced by Chris Norborg on bass. Chisel released their first full-length album Nothing New in 1995, followed by 8 A.M. All Day in 1996. Their third album Set You Free, released in 1997, marked a shift towards Britpop influences. The band disbanded after their final show on May 16, 1997, in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 2022, The Numero Group began reissuing Chisel's music, leading to a reunion for the Numero Twenty festival and subsequent shows in California and Chicago.
