Julia Garrison Starr is a Grammy-nominated American singer-songwriter and producer. She recorded her first album, Pinwheels (1993), shortly after graduating from Evangelical Christian School. Early in her career, she played drums for the band This Living Hand during her time at the University of Mississippi, where she also began collaborating with Neilson Hubbard. Starr’s major-label debut, Eighteen Over Me (1997), was released by Geffen Records and featured her song, “Superhero.” Following its release, she toured as part of Lilith Fair. After departing Geffen, she released a series of EPs and albums, including Songs From Take-Off To Landing (2002) and Airstreams and Satellites (2004). In 2016, she produced and co-wrote Margaret Cho’s American Myth, which received a Grammy nomination.
