Sally Bat des Ailes

Sally bat des ailes was a French pop-rock group formed in 1998 by Jérôme Lucas and Alex Toesca, who met while working on the television show Graines de star. The duo released the single “Je te veux encore” (2001), which entered the French charts at number 28 and brought them to national attention. In 2001, the group issued their self-titled debut album, Sally bat des ailes (2001). The following year, they performed at the Olympia, the Cigale, and multiple Zenith venues, and toured with singer Jenifer. In January 2002, they were nominated for the NRJ Music Awards in the category Francophone Revelation of the Year. They followed with the singles “Bleu” (2002) and “Quand Sally bat des ailes” (2003). A second studio album, Populaire Rock Box (2005), and the single “Comment faire” (2005) followed, coinciding with a lineup change when guitarist David Marescaux departed in 2003 and bass player Greg Chabasse joined as co-composer and arranger. The group disbanded in February 2006 after a final concert in Paris. Following the split, Lucas pursued a solo career under the name Noni and later collaborated with French pop artist Matt Pokora.
