Aura Noir is a Norwegian black metal and thrash metal band formed in Oslo, Norway, in 1993 by Carl-Michael Eide, known as Aggressor. The group's early lineup included Ole Jørgen Moe, known as Apollyon. Aura Noir released an untitled debut demo in 1993, followed by the demo Two Voices, One King (1994) and the EP Dreams Like Deserts (1995). Their debut studio album, Black Thrash Attack (1996), was released under Malicious Records and featured guitarist Rune Eriksen, known as Blasphemer. Subsequent albums include Deep Tracts of Hell (1998), The Merciless (2004), Hades Rise (released on August 25, 2008), Out to Die (2012), and Aura Noire (2018). The band participated in festivals such as Hole in the Sky and Hellfest, and their discography includes collaborations with musicians such as Fenriz of Darkthrone.
