Byron Metcalf, born in the United States, is a percussionist, musician, and composer known for his work in ambient and tribal music. He began his career with over 40 years of experience as a professional musician, contributing to albums that achieved Gold and Platinum status in Pop and Country genres. In 1998, Metcalf released his debut album Helpers, Guides & Allies... Navigating the Shamanic Landscape, which received critical acclaim and reached the number 4 position on Backroads Music's World Music category for 1998. He collaborated with Steve Roach on the double album The Serpent's Lair in 2000, released by Projekt Records. Throughout his career, Metcalf has explored the use of drums and percussion to induce altered states of consciousness in both ceremonial and therapeutic contexts. His solo discography includes notable releases such as The Shaman's Heart (2004), A Warning from the Elders (2007), and Spirit Gathering with Hemi-Sync® (2008). He has also worked with Mark Seelig and Steve Roach on albums like Nada Terma (2008) and with Dashmesh Khalsa and Steve Roach on Dream Tracker (2010).
