Sir Lord Baltimore was an American rock and early heavy metal band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 1968 by John Garner on drums and vocals, Louis Dambra on guitar, and Gary Justin on bass. Their debut album, Kingdom Come, released in 1970 under Mercury Records, showcased a raw, distorted sound that would later be recognized as early heavy metal. In May 1971, Mike Saunders of Creem magazine used the term "heavy metal" for the first time to describe their music. The band's second album, Sir Lord Baltimore, was released the same year and featured slower tempos. Later after the album's release, the band began to fade due to drug use and declining sales. Sir Lord Baltimore reunited for the release of Sir Baltimore III Raw in 2006.
