Infernal Poetry, an Italian death metal band from Ancona, was formed in 1996. Initially known as Necronomicon, they changed their name to Infernal Poetry in 1997 and embarked on a European tour with Impiety and Rotting Christ in October/November 2000. In March 2001, they signed with Fuel Records for their debut album Not Light But Rather Visible Darkness, released in January 2002. This was followed by the split EP Twice with Dark Lunacy in 2003 and their second full-length album Beholding the Unpure in 2005, which received critical acclaim from Italian media. In 2009, they released Nervous System Failure, featuring Trevor from Sadist as a guest vocalist. Their final album Paraphiliac was released in January 2013. The band ceased activities in April 2014 and was included in the book Metal Progressivo Italiano in 2019, highlighting their impact on Italian extreme metal.
