Inca Babies is an English post-punk band from Hulme, Manchester, England. The group was formed in 1982 by bassist Bill Marten, guitarist Harry Stafford, vocalist Julian Woropay, and drummer Alan Brown. They drew musical influences from Link Wray, The Cramps, The Gun Club, and The Birthday Party. Their debut single, “The Interior”, appeared in November 1983 on their Black Lagoon label, followed by the EP Big Jugular (1984), which reached number 13 on the UK Indie Chart. Their debut studio album, Rumble (1985), peaked at number 3. Subsequent releases include the albums This Train (1986), Opium Den (1987), and Evil Hour (1988), with the latter featuring a keyboard collaboration with Clint Boon. After disbanding in the late 1980s, the band reformed in 2007 and added drummer Rob Haynes to the lineup. They released the compilation album 1983–87 – Plutonium (2006) and the studio albums Death Message Blues (2010), Deep Dark Blue (2012), The Stereo Plan (2014), Swamp Street Soul (2021), and Ghost Mechanic Nine (2024). They also toured Europe and issued the album Reincarnation (2025), which features re-recorded and remixed versions of their back catalog.
