Belgian singer, songwriter, composer, and musician Angèle (born Angèle Van Laeken on December 3, 1995, in Uccle) is the daughter of singer Marka and actress Laurence Bibot, and her brother is another artist: rapper Roméo Elvis. After studying music at a jazz school, she began performing on stage with her father and then gave her first concerts in Brussels cafés. Noticed online for her videos, she opened for rapper Damso, who invited her to sing on his album Lithopédion (2018). Her first single, “La Loi de Murphy” (No. 5), released in October 2017, was accompanied by a video that went viral on social media and was followed by the track “Je veux tes yeux” (No. 16). Angèle’s electronic pop, characterized by her sense of humor, was a huge hit during a 2018 festival tour. Following the release of the singles “La Thune” (No. 9) and “Jalousie ” (No. 12), the artist—signed to the label Initial Artist Services, a subsidiary of Universal—released her debut album Brol (No. 1) on October 5, 2018. At the same time, a new track, “Tout oublier”, a duet with her brother Roméo Elvis, was released. This song earned her her first No. 1 hit in France, soon followed by another thanks to the hit “Balance ton quoi”. Two more singles were released in 2020: “Fever”, a duet with Dua Lipa, and, most notably, in 2021, “Bruxelles je t’aime.” This track served as the lead single for her second studio album, titled Nonante-Cinq , which in turn reached No. 1. In 2022, she released Nonante-Cinq La Suite, a reissue expanded with six previously unreleased tracks, including “Amour, Haine & Danger”. She received the Victoire Award for Best Female Artist in 2023 and collaborated that same year with Tamino on “Sunflower”. In 2024, she featured on “Nightcall”, a cover of Kavinsky’s track with Phoenix, which she performed with them during the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics. In 2026, she returned with “What You Want”, in collaboration with Justice, and then released “Dis-le” and “Love Triangle”, featuring Caroline Polachek and SebastiAn. Her third album, Instinct, was released on October 16, 2026.
