David & David was an American rock duo composed of Los Angeles-based studio musicians David Baerwald and David Ricketts, active from 1979 to 1987. The pair attributed part of their decision to form the group to their dissatisfaction with their previous bands. Their breakthrough came with the single "Welcome to the Boomtown", taken from their 1986 album Boomtown, which peaked at number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number 8 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart, while the album itself climbed to number 39 on the U.S. Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, was certified Gold by the RIAA, and reached number 33 in New Zealand. Subsequent singles, including "Swallowed by the Cracks"(peaking at number 14 on the Album Rock Tracks chart) and "Ain't So Easy" (reaching number 51 on the Hot 100), maintained the duo's presence on rock radio. Following a U.S. tour that began in November 1986, David & David disbanded, and Baerwald and Ricketts went on to work with other musicians; both later collaborated with Sheryl Crow on her 1993 debut, Tuesday Night Music Club. In 2016 reports surfaced that the duo were working on a second album, though no further releases materialized.
