Louise Tucker, an English mezzo-soprano opera singer from Bristol, was born in 1956. She trained as an opera singer at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Her breakthrough came in the early 1980s when she collaborated with record producers Charlie Skarbek and Tim Smit to release two albums that blended her classically-trained operatic voice with synthpop music. The first album, Midnight Blue, was released in 1982 and featured the single "Midnight Blue", which reached number 59 on the UK Singles Chart in April 1983 and number 46 on the US Hot 100 in August 1983. The song also peaked at number 10 on the US Adult Contemporary Chart, while the album itself reached number 127 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Another single from this album, "Only for You", was released in some countries. A follow-up album, After the Storm, was released in 1983 and included singles such as "Dancing by Moonlight" and "No Tears To Cry". After these releases, Louise Tucker focused on her career as an opera singer, performing with notable companies including Dublin Grand Opera and Kent Opera. She also worked as a teacher for young singers.
