1349 is a Norwegian black metal band from Oslo, formed in 1997 by several former members of Alvheim. The group includes drummer Frost, who is also a member of Satyricon. Their debut album, Liberation (2003), featured a cover of Mayhem's “Buried by Time and Dust”. The band followed with Beyond the Apocalypse (2004) and Hellfire (2005). 1349 toured regularly, and live shows often began with Frost and guitarist Archaon breathing fire. The band toured with Celtic Frost in 2006, and was joined on stage by frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer at the Inferno Metal Festival in March 2008. Their fourth album, Revelations of the Black Flame (2009), marked a change in direction with slower songs and industrial-tinged tracks. In 2010, the band signed with Indie Recordings and released the fifth album, Demonoir, on April 26, 2010. The group also released Massive Cauldron of Chaos (2014), The Infernal Pathway (2019), and The Wolf & the King on October 4, 2024.
