Hate Eternal, a Florida death metal band from St. Petersburg, Florida, was formed in 1997 by founding guitarist/vocalist Erik Rutan and bassist Jared Anderson. The group released their debut album Conquering the Throne in 1999 through Earache Records. Following lineup changes, including the addition of Derek Roddy on drums in 2000, the band released their second album King of All Kings in 2002, which included an appearance on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball for the single "Powers That Be". In 2005, Hate Eternal released I, Monarch, marking a significant evolution in their sound. The band continued with albums such as Fury & Flames (2008), Phoenix Amongst the Ashes (2011), Infernus (2015), and Upon Desolate Sands (2018).
