M.I.A. was a punk rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 1980 by Todd Sampson, Mike Conley, and Chris Moon, with guitarist Nick Adams joining shortly thereafter. Their breakthrough came with the split LP Last Rites for Genocide (1982) through BOMP, featuring the track "New Left" that appeared on the Not So Quiet on the Western Front compilation. The band signed with Alternative Tentacles in 1984 and released Murder in a Foreign Place (1984), followed by Notes from the Underground (1985) on National Trust and After the Fact (1987) on Flipside. They toured North America, supported Social Distortion, and appeared on several compilations. The group disbanded in 1988; a 2001 retrospective Lost Boys preserved their legacy. After vocalist Conley died in 2008, the remaining members reunited in 2014 for a performance in Las Vegas.
