Blood Axis is an American neofolk project founded in 1989 by Michael Moynihan. The project initially consisted of Moynihan and Robert Ferbrache, with violinist Annabel Lee joining shortly after the release of the debut album. Its first releases were the songs “Lord of Ages” and “Electricity”, which were featured on the compilation album The Lamp of the Invisible Light (1991). The project gained attention with its debut album, The Gospel of Inhumanity (1995). Moynihan collaborated with Reverend Thomas Thorn on tracks released in 1994, and subsequently collaborated with the French band Les Joyaux de la Princesse on the concept album Absinthe – La Folie Verte (2001). Its second studio album, Born Again (2010), was followed by the compilation album Ultimacy (2011). The project performed various live concerts, including a November 15, 1997 performance in Sweden captured on the live album Blót: Sacrifice in Sweden (1998).
