Tvangeste, a Russian-based symphonic black metal band, was formed in 1997 in Kaliningrad, Russia, by guitarist Mikhail Chirva. The band's name is derived from Tvangste, the original name of the area. Initially, the lineup included Miron Chirva, Edgar, Nikolay "Kok" Kazmin, and Yulia. Tvangeste released two demo singles, Blood Dreams (1997) and Thinking..." (1998). In 2000, they released their debut full-length album, Damnation of Regiomontum. In 2003, the band's second studio album, Firestorm, was released via Worldchaos Production. Polish musician Cezary Mielko contributed as a session drummer on this album. Around 2005, Miron and Naturelle moved to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, while other members stayed in Russia. In 2016, former bassist/guitarist Ivan "Vano" Mayorov passed away.
