The Screaming MeeMees

The Screaming Meemees were a New Zealand post-punk-new wave band formed in Auckland in 1979, composed of vocalist Tony Drumm, guitarist Michael O'Neill, keyboard and bass player Peter van der Fluit, and drummer Laurence "Yoh" Landwer-Johan. The band gained early recognition with the inclusion of their single "All Dressed Up" on the compilation album Class of 81 produced by Simon Grigg's Propeller Records. In 1981, they released their single "Can’t Take It", which entered the top 40 in New Zealand. Their follow-up single "See Me Go" reached Number 1 on the New Zealand charts. Their other singles include "Sunday Boys" and "Stars In My Eyes". The band's final performances included a gig at the 1983 Sweetwaters Music Festival. They split in April 1983 but reformed briefly in August for two shows.
