Saris, a progressive and hard rock band from Germany, was formed in Bochum by Derk Akkermann and Udo Raitzig after their previous band Review disbanded. Inspired by 1970s progressive rock bands like Genesis and Kansas, Saris blended symphonic hard rock with melodic elements. Their early single "Out of Your Night" (1983) did not resonate well with fans due to its stylistic departure from their typical sound. After a hiatus and lineup changes, the band released Dead End Street in 1993. Saris' breakthrough came with Curse of Time (2009), which aligned with their original style. The band also saw significant personnel changes, including the addition of Achim Schmidt on drums and Thomas Hackmann on vocals. Tragically, Schmidt passed away in March 2009 due to a pulmonary embolism. The band continued with new members Jens Beckmann and Henrik Wager, releasing Until We Have Faces (2014), Ghosts Of Yesterday (2017), and Beyond the Rainbow (2020).
