Kaveret is an Israeli pop rock band from Tel Aviv that formed in 1973. Also known as Poogy, the ensemble consisted of Danny Sanderson, Gidi Gov, Alon Oleartchik, Efraim Shamir, Meir Fenigstein, Yoni Rechter, and Yitzhak Klepter. They achieved early professional recognition after members met in the Nahal Entertainment Troupe and are famous for their humorous lyrics and for being a breakthrough act in Israeli rock history. The band represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest (1974) with the track “Natati La Khayay”, achieving 7th place. Their discography includes the studio recordings Sipurei Poogy (1973), Poogy BePita (1974), and Tzafuf BaOzen (1975). The ensemble was voted “Band of the Year” for four consecutive years starting in 1973. After disbanding in 1976, the group returned for several reunions, including a 1984 performance in Yarkon Park attended by approximately 500,000 people.
