Frank Patterson was an Irish tenor born on October 5, 1938, in Clonmel. He achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by operetta, church music, and traditional Irish music and for being known as “Ireland's Golden Tenor”. Patterson achieved professional recognition for a career that began as a member of his parish choir and winning several sections at the Feis Ceoil in 1964. He achieved professional recognition for signing with the label Philips Records following a radio broadcast in Paris and releasing the debut studio recording My Dear Native Land. His recording career included over 30 studio recordings in six languages including arrangements of the composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Patterson achieved professional recognition for performing two concerts at the White House for Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. His discography included the collaborative studio recording Faith of Our Fathers (1996) which topped the Irish charts for two months. Patterson achieved professional recognition for receiving honorary doctorates from Salve Regina University and Manhattan College. He died on June 10, 2000.
