Chokehold, eine kanadische vegane Straight-Edge-Hardcore-Punk-Band aus Hamilton, Ontario, wurde 1990 gegründet. Zu den frühen Veröffentlichungen der Gruppe gehörten „More Than Ever“ aus dem Jahr 1992 und eine Split-Veröffentlichung mit Crisis of Faith im selben Jahr, gefolgt von der EP „Life Goes On“. Chokeholds Debütalbum „Prison of Hope“ erschien 1993 bei Conquer the World Records. Ihre nachfolgenden Alben waren „Content With Dying“ (1995) und „Left for Dead/Chokehold“ (1996). Die Band löste sich 1996 nach einem letzten Auftritt beim New Bedford Fest in Massachusetts auf. Im Jahr 2015 kam Chokehold wieder zusammen und veröffentlichte remasterte Versionen ihrer Alben auf Vinyl. Ihr Comeback-Album „With This Thread I Hold On“ erschien 2019.
