Johnny Society, an American rock band from New York City, was formed in 1996 by multi-instrumentalist Kenny Siegal and Brian Geltner. Initially releasing a self-titled album as Hunk on Geffen Records in 1996, the duo disbanded briefly before reuniting under their new identity. Their debut album as Johnny Society, It Don't Matter, was released in 1997. The following year, they released Wood, which featured contributions from various musicians and was named to The New York Times' Top Ten List of Independent Records of 1998. In 1999, Gwen Snyder joined the band, and their third album, Clairvoyance, was released in 2000. This album won Album of the Year at the 2002 Independent Music Awards. Subsequent albums included Life Behind the 21st Century Wall (2003) and Coming to Get You (2005). The band released their single "Ventilator Blues" in 2020.
