Heinz Mühlbauer, known professionally as Henry Arland, was born on September 2, 1945, in Planegg, Germany. Arland began playing the clarinet at a young age and later studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. His early career saw him performing as a soloist and session musician, notably with the Botho Lucas Choir on "Sweet Clarinett". Throughout the 1960s and beyond, he released several singles including "Der Klein Prinz" and "Kalinka". In 1993, Arland appeared with his sons Maximilian and Hansi on ZDF's music hit parade and later appeared on other folk music programs. They participated in the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1994, winning with "Echo der Berge". The trio's repertoire included jazz, blues, and operetta melodies. Arland's solo discography includes albums like Klarinette in Gold (1967), Golden Clarinet (1976), and Ambiente (2004).
