Burden of Grief is a German melodic death metal band formed in 1994 in Kassel by Mike Huhmann on vocals, Oliver Eikenberg and Philipp Hanfland on guitars, Christoph Schellöh on drums, and later Ulrich Busch on bass. Before securing their first record deal with Grind Syndicate Media, Burden of Grief released three demo tapes, including Above Twilight Wings in 1997. Their debut album, Haunting Requiems, was produced by Andy Classen and released in 2000. The band's lineup underwent several changes over the years. Burden of Grief gained significant attention through their performances at festivals such as Party.San and Wave-Gotik-Treffen. Their album On Darker Trails was released in 2001 under Massacre Records, followed by Fields Of Salvation in 2004 on Remedy Records. The band continued to release albums including Death End Road (2007), Follow the Flames (2010), and Unchained (2014).
