Certain General, an American post-punk band, was formed in 1980 in Manhattan's East Village by Parker Dulany, Phil Gammage, Marcy Saddy, and Russell Berke. The group gained traction within the downtown New York music scene, performing at venues like Club 57 and CBGBs. Their debut EP, Holiday of Love, was released in 1982 on Labor Records. Their seminal album, November's Heat, was released in 1984 and earned significant acclaim, particularly in France. In 1985, Certain General collaborated with Band of Outsiders on the album Far Away in America and toured extensively in both the United States and the UK. The band continued to release albums throughout the late 1980s and into the 2000s, including These are the Days (1985), Cabin Fever (1988), and Signals from the Source (1998).
