Angelou was an English folk rock band from United Kingdom. Formed in 1996, the group was founded by singer-songwriter Holly Lerski and guitarist Jo Baker. The ensemble was named after the author Maya Angelou. The group released its debut EP, Hallelujah, in 1997. Following the addition of members Phil Di Palma and Chris Evans, the band issued the studio albums Automiracles (1998) and While You Were Sleeping (2000). In 2001, the band toured Spain to promote the compilation album Midnight Witcheries with new members Cath Evans and Ann Richardson. That same year, the group performed on the Benicàssim festival tour and issued the EP Summertime. The ensemble's final studio album, Life Is Beautiful, appeared in 2005 and was released under the name of Holly Lerski. Angelou disbanded in 2006.
