Dakoda Motor Co., an American Christian, surf, and alternative rock band, was formed in 1991 by Peter King, a professional surfer and host of the MTV show Sandblast. Key members included Davia Vallesillo (vocals), Elliot Chenault (guitar), Derik Toy (bass guitar), Chuck Cummings (drums), and Melissa Brewer (vocals from 1995 to 1997). The group released their debut album Into the Son in 1991, which was rereleased under Myrrh Records in 1993. The following year, they released Welcome Race Fans, which peaked at number 14 on the U.S. Christian chart. In 1996, Dakoda Motor Co. transitioned to Atlantic Records and released their third album Railroad. They disbanded in 1997 but reformed in 2006.
