Isole is a Swedish epic doom metal band from Gävle, founded in 1990 under the name Forlorn by Daniel Bryntse and Crister Olsson. The group released several early demos before pausing in 1996 to pursue other musical projects. After signing with I Hate Records in 2003, the band changed its name to Isole and released the debut studio album Forevermore in 2005. This record featured the song “Moonstone”, the first entry in their Moonstone Trilogy. They followed this with Throne of Void in 2006 and Bliss of Solitude in 2008, which contained the second trilogy installment, “Shadowstone”. The cycle was completed with the title track of their 2011 album, Born from Shadows. Isole continued their prolific career with the release of The Calm Hunter in 2014 on the Cyclone Empire label. Subsequent releases included the albums Dystopia in 2019 and Anesidora in 2023. The band remains recognized for their melancholic and heavy sound, often compared to Candlemass.
