The Silver Seas are an American pop-rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, that formed in 1999. The ensemble was founded by singer-songwriter Daniel Tashian and producer Jason Lehning, who were joined by drummer David Gehrke and bassist Robbie Harrington. They originally performed under the name The Bees and released their debut studio album, Starry Gazey Pie, (2004) independently. Following the release of the album High Society (2006), the band toured as an opening act for Guster. In 2007, they adopted the name The Silver Seas to avoid copyright conflicts with a British band. Their third studio album, Château Revenge!, was released (2010) independently and distributed in Europe by the Lights Label through EMI. This was followed by a blue edition of the recording featuring acoustic versions of the songs. The ensemble released the album Alaska (2013), which was described by Tashian as a country record. Their fifth studio album, Moonlight Road, was released (2018) on digital platforms. In 2008, High Society received a nomination for best pop-rock album at the seventh annual Independent Music Awards. The members include Tashian on lead vocals and guitar, Lehning on piano, and Gehrke on drums.
