Trovante is a Portuguese folk rock band formed in 1976 in Sagres by João Nuno Represas, Luís Represas, Manuel Faria, João Gil, and Artur Costa. The group initially combined traditional Portuguese music with politically influenced songwriting, releasing their debut album Chão Nosso in 1977. They gained wider recognition in the 1980s with albums such as Baile no Bosque, Cais das Colinas, and Terra Firme, and popular songs including "Balada das Sete Saias," "Saudade," and "Perdidamente." Known for blending folk traditions with contemporary rock, Trovante became one of Portugal’s most influential bands of the era, performing major concerts and attracting large audiences. Although they disbanded in 1990, they reunited several times for special performances, including celebrations of Portugal’s April Revolution and appearances at Rock in Rio Lisboa.
