Alexander Frangenheim, born in 1959 in Wuppertal, Germany, is a German double bassist. Initially, Frangenheim studied sculpture at the Kunstakademie Stuttgart and classical double bass under Reinald Schwarz. His career took a pivotal turn when he co-founded the Produktionszentrum Tanz und Performance in Stuttgart and organized the Festival concepts of doing – Interaktion Tanz Musik from 1992 to 2003, which featured performances with notable artists like K. R. H. Sonderborg, Julyen Hamilton, Fine Kwiatkowski, and Benoît Lachambre. Frangenheim collaborated with prominent musicians such as John Butcher, Thomas Lehn, Paul Lovens, and Phil Minton. His albums include Twisters (1996), Further Lock (1998), Alla Prima (1998), and The Knife Again (2010). He was a member of the Berlin ensemble Zeitkratzer from 1997 to 2003.
