Máquina! was a progressive rock group from Barcelona, Spain, formed in 1969. The band initially served as a backing group for various artists within the Grup de Folk in 1968, notably Jaume Sisa, under the name La Companyia, SL. Founders Jordi Batiste and Enric Herrera formed Máquina! with Santiago García "Jackie" on drums and Lluís Cabanach "Luigi" on guitar. They released their debut single "Lands of Perfection / Let’s Get Smashed" in August 1969 under the label Als 4 Vents, showcasing their psychedelic rock style. The group performed at the Salón Iris in Barcelona in February 1970, marking a significant moment for progressive rock in Spain. Their first album Why? was released in May 1970, featuring the extended track "Why?" and the instrumental blues "I Believe". The band released the live double album En Directo in 1972 before disbanding later that year. Batiste reformed Máquina! for a series of concerts between 2004 and 2007. Their later releases include the double album ... Funciona! in 2004 and the compilation Lets Get Smashed in 2010.
