Big Daddy is an American comedy rock band formed in Los Angeles, California. The group initially gained recognition in the 1970s as "Big Daddy Dipstick and the Lube Jobs", performing as an oldies cover band before transitioning into creating mashups of oldies music and modern pop songs. In 1983, the group provided backup vocals for Richard Berry's remake of "Louie Louie" on the compilation album The Best of Louie, Louie. The band had its first breakthrough on the Doctor Demento Show and subsequently placed consecutively on Stereophile's "Records to Die For" list in 1994 and 1995. Studio albums include Big Daddy (1983), Meanwhile... Back in the States (1985), Cutting Their Own Groove (1991), Sgt. Pepper's (1992), Chantmania (1994) under the pseudonym the Benzedrine Monks of Santo Domonica, and Smashing Songs of Stage and Screen (2013). Their 1985 EP, Dancing in the Dark, reached number 21 on the UK charts.
