The Very Things are an English post-punk band from Redditch formed in 1983. The ensemble was founded by guitarist Robin Raymond and vocalist The Shend following the dissolution of the group The Cravats. They released their debut single “The Gong Man” (1983) through the label Corpus Christi. Their discography includes the extended play The Bushes Scream While My Daddy Prunes (1984), which reached number 21 on the UK Independent Chart. This was followed by their debut studio album of the same name, The Bushes Scream While My Daddy Prunes (1984). Their recording career includes the singles “Mummy You're a Wreck” (1985) and “This Is Motortown” (1986), the latter reaching number 14. The band disbanded in 1988 after recording the studio album Motortown (1988). The Shend subsequently established an acting career. The ensemble resumed activity in 2024 and released the studio recording Mr. Arc-Eye (Under a Cellophane Sky) (2024).
