Guy Cabay, born on October 2, 1950, in Polleur, Belgium, is a Belgian jazz musician. Influenced by his musically inclined grandfathers, he studied musicology at the University of Liège under Henri Pousseur. In 1978, Cabay wrote "Tot-a-fêt rote cou d'zeùr cou-d'zos", a bossa nova-influenced song in the Liége dialect. His debut album, Tot-A-Fêt Rote Cou-D'zeur Cou-D'zos, was released in 1978. Throughout the 1980s, Cabay released several albums, including Li Tins, lès-ôtes èt on pô d'mi (1979), and Miroirs d'ailleurs (1982). He collaborated with notable jazz musicians such as Steve Houben and Toots Thielemans. In 1987, Cabay began teaching the history of jazz at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and the Conservatory of Luxembourg, reducing his performing activities to focus on education and instrumental music.
