Georghe Petrescu, known professionally as Gică Petrescu, was born on April 2, 1915, in Bucharest, Romania. He began his musical journey as a student at the Gheorghe Șincai High School in Bucharest, where he sang and played guitar in a student ensemble. He was discovered by the composer Ion Vasilescu, who helped him launch his career on radio. In the late 1930s, Petrescu released several singles, including "Să-mi dai batista ta la despărțire / Țigancă, mi-ai mințit norocul" and "Să nu uiți că mă iubești / Întoarce-te curând!". From 1940 onwards, he performed at major theaters such as Alhambra and Gioconda. Petrescu's discography includes albums like Gică Petrescu (1972) and Hai noroc și iar noroc! (1981). Notable achievements include the Order of the Star of Romania in 2003 and the Lifetime Award from MTV Romanian Music Awards in 2004. Petrescu passed away on June 18, 2006, at the age of 91.
