Timpuri Noi is a Romanian alternative rock band formed in Bucharest, Romania, in 1980. They remained underground until 1989 when they released the split album Formații rock nr. 11 (1989). Their name translates to "New Times", reflecting the Marxist Socialism era and referencing Charles Chaplin’s film Modern Times. In the early 1990s, they gained popularity in Romania, opening for international acts such as Ian Gillan and Scorpions. Their breakthrough came with the first unplugged performance in Romania in 1994, recorded on the album Unplugged în concert (1994). They received the MCM French music television and Radio France Internationale "Decouvertes de Rock a l'Est" Award in 1997. After disbanding in 2001, they reunited in 2005 and released Back in Business (2006). They later released albums including Deschide-ți mintea! (2012) and Moldova mon amour (2020), and engaged in live performances throughout Romania.
