Dabda (Korean: 다브다) is a South Korean math rock band formed in 2014 in Seoul. The band currently consists of Lee Seunghyeon (drums), Kim Jiae (vocals), Lee Joseph (guitar), and Noh Keohyeon (bass). The group’s name is inspired by the five stages of grief from Elizabeth Kubler-Ross’s book On Death and Dying, reflecting their emotive and complex musical style. Their first single, 황금사자, was released in 2013, and by 2016, they launched their debut EP Island of Each (저마다 섬), which received praise for its immersive and atmospheric quality. In 2018, their single Look of a Dream further solidified their presence, and they went on to win the Grand Prize in the Super Rookie category at the Pentaport Rock Festival. In 2020, Dabda released their first full-length album, But, All the Shining Things Are, though lineup changes followed, with bassist Park Heesoo leaving and Noh Keohyeon joining. In 2021, they collaborated with Japanese math rock band Toe on the single Jungle Gym. Their latest EP was Yonder (2023).
