Tanju Okan was a Turkish singer and actor born on 27 August 1938 in İzmir. He achieved professional recognition in the early 1960s as a solo vocalist for the Müfit Kiper orchestra. In 1964, he represented Turkey at the Balkan Music Festival alongside Tülay German and Erol Büyükburç. His recording career includes the tracks "Öyle Sarhoş Olsam Ki" (1972) and "Kadınım" (1974), and he contributed to the collaborative recording Arkadaş Dur Bekle (1973). Okan performed in various styles including arranged Turkish folklore music, Western covers, and original compositions. His discography includes the studio recordings Bütün Şarkılarım (1975) and Yorgunum (1980). He starred in eleven movies throughout his career, including Cübbeli Gelin (1964) and Gazap Rüzgarı (1982). Okan became inactive in the 1990s and resided in Urla. He died on 23 May 1996.
