Amps for Christ is the experimental music project of American musician Henry Barnes, a veteran of Man Is the Bastard and Bastard Noise, based in Claremont, California. The project emerged in the mid-1990s as Barnes sought to combine experimental noise and extreme metal with folk, classical, jazz, and traditional world music. He is known for his eclectic instrumentation and unconventional approach to sound. He and his collaborators have incorporated instruments such as sitar, tabla, stringed instruments, electronics, and modified or self-built amplifiers and pre-amps. The project also explores waveform manipulation and blends noise with folk, acoustic, and folk-rock elements. He has released numerous albums and collaborative projects under the Amps for Christ name, including Beggars Garden (1997), Circuits (1999), Electrosphere (2000), The People at Large (2004), Every Eleven Seconds (2006), and Canyons Cars and Crows (2014).
