The Earlies is an English and American band formed by Christian Madden and Giles Hatton from Lancashire, England, and Brandon Carr and John Mark Lapham from the United States. Prior to forming the group, Lapham released ambient electronic music under the name Autio, while Hatton recorded as Atomic Clock. The Earlies achieved UK chart singles with “Morning Wonder” in 2004, which reached number 67 on the UK Singles Chart, and “Bring It Back Again”, which reached number 61. They released their debut studio album, These Were the Earlies, in 2005, followed by their second studio album, The Enemy Chorus, in 2007, featuring an 11-member live lineup playing instruments including flute, tuba, cello, turntables, and synthesizer. After headlining the Green Man Festival in 2007, the band entered a hiatus. They returned in 2015 with the extended play Message from Home and a UK tour, and played on and produced parts of Jinnwoo's 2016 album Strangers Bring Me No Light. On October 11, 2025, the band performed a reunion show alongside King Creosote and Alela Diane to celebrate the 20th anniversary of These Were the Earlies.
